Summary of Experience
Robert W. Klute’s 30-year career in architecture and facility planning
has been focused exclusively in healthcare. He has led both architectural and
consulting teams in working for healthcare clients across the United States.
His experience includes well over $1 billion in healthcare construction projects
and ranges from totally new facilities to expansions and renovations. His credentials
include planning work in specialty areas such as cancer care, cardiac care
and ambulatory surgery.
Klute’s experience as an architect and as a healthcare consultant heightens
his ability to understand the issues and hurdles confronting his clients. His
perspective helps clients find solutions that work. His recent work includes:
- Master facility and expansion planning
for six hospitals (130 - 700 beds) for a metropolitan Chicago
healthcare system to help the system best allocate their capital
dollars and prioritize expenditures.
- Facility master planning and programming
for six hospitals of a southern healthcare system, including
physician pavilions and an ambulatory care center network.
- Facility assessment and master planning
for a 60-bed heart hospital located in the southwest.
- Planning and programming for a new 70-bed
community hospital in the southwest; and programming for a new
136-bed heart and trauma hospital in the central Rockies.
Prior to forming Hosking|Klute Healthcare,
Klute was a Director in a major accounting firm’s healthcare
consulting practice and the principal healthcare planner in a major
Midwestern architectural firm. In addition to his architectural
project responsibilities, he was a managing principal and member
of the architectural firm’s Executive Committee.
Professional Affiliations
He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and its Academy of Architecture
for Health (AAH) and is a credentialed member of the American College of
Healthcare Architects (ACHA).
Education
Klute holds a Bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of
Illinois, Chicago. He is a licensed architect in Illinois, Michigan and Florida
and has been certified by the National Council of Architecture Registration
Boards (NCARB).
